Playing for Integration is a collective across eight different European countries, who have travelled to the respective countries to explore traditional folk music, song writrting and create new songs since 2011, in the spirit of intergration.
Playing for Integration is an international songwriting partnership held under the auspices of the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Grundtvig Programme. For the past eight months this group of songwriters have been meeting on a regular basis to explore each other’s traditional music and culture and to bring their songwriting skills to a new level The have held songwriting workshops, co-written and recorded new songs and performed at gigs and concerts.
The theme is contemporary songs and folk music from each country. Ireland with her rich tradition of folk songs and unique songwriters will surely make this the perfect setting to welcome the Integration participants. The scene will be set for a creative and cultural get together, workshops and performances by each country over the five days.
Playing for Integration presented by Tallaght Community Arts and Tallaght Songwriters Collective and funded by SDCC Arts Office and Lifelong Learning Grundtvig Programme.
